Flat Brendan at the Blackboard

The role of the “learner” using this site is to construct knowledge about a state that was chosen by one of their classmates as part of the “Flat Stanley” project.  The role of the teacher is to expand the knowledge of her class beyond their home state of Michigan.  By introducing their “flat” counterpart to other families around the country, they are taking a vicarious tour of the student’s chosen state.

By sharing knowledge in a group environment, the focus is turned away from the teacher as the "instructor" and turned toward the student who can become "expert" on a topic through collaboration with their fellow students.
